There wouldn’t be a Battlefield launch without some day-one shenanigans. My favorite is Battlefield 2042’s hovercrafts. Hovercrafts can navigate smoothly over water and land, but Battlefield’s turret-mounted hovercrafts take it one step further.

You can drive one of these beauties up a building if you do it right.

You don’t have to choose any building. If you want to try this yourself, I recommend this smooth-sided skyscraper at the edge of the Kaleidoscope map. Headfirst driving into the building’s face is an excellent way to start. If the tube portion of the hovercraft explodes, don’t panic. The bottom of my craft slid onto the building using a left-right turn and revving the engine forward. Just hold Shift while parallel to the hovercraft to boost the engine. The hovercraft should then start barreling along the side.

As I was gliding through the glass-paned monument of human ingenuity, I thought warmly: Modern Battlefield is back! This is the quite fun stuff that was not possible in Battlefield 1 or Battlefield 5.

DICE: Before you say anything, this bug is not there. This is a feature, and it should be treated accordingly.

As I reached the top of the skyscraper, it turned out that I had gained a surprising amount of speed. As I tried to get it down, it flew well above the peak. I was able to land the hovercraft safely (hell yes!). You can guess why this works. Perhaps the hovercraft in-game has a simulated suction property that is strong enough to stick to any flat surface.

Next time you are on a map with the hovercraft, press B and drop one beside a flat or not-so-flat thing you wish to climb. You should be able to make your new heights a practical turret nest.
