Black Panther 2 Rumored To Set Up Namor MCU Spinoff Franchise
Black Panther – Wakanda Forever is being rumored as a major MCU franchise, this time for Namor. Black Panther has been a massive success for Marvel Studios. It is the 13th most-grossing film globally, earning $1.3 billion. It also won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Ryan Coogler will return to direct the much-anticipated sequel but has kept much of the plot a secret.
Black Panther: Wakanda forever was a problematic production. In 2020, the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman led to a complete rewrite of the script. The film’s release date was moved from May 6, 2022, to November 11, 2022. Marvel Studios decided not to recast T’Challa to honor Boseman. Many rumors point to Shuri taking over the role of Black Panther. Letitia Wright, the star of Black Panther, was injured on set. Production was halted for two months. Wright is now back on set, and filming will begin with approximately a month of work left on the film.
Although plot details for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have not been revealed, there is a rumor that the sequel will feature Namor, the Submariner. BleedingCool claims that the sequel will feature Namor, Namora, and Atlantean warlord Attuma. It will also feature a war between Wakanda & Atlantis. Namor’s appearance in the film is similar to Black Panther’s in Captain America Civil War. Namor will be able to make his film.
Namor was created by Bill Evert, a writer, and an artist, in 1939. He was a crucial character for Marvel Comics when Timely Comics. Stan Lee introduced the character in The Fantastic Four #4 1962. As Atlantis ‘ ruler, he has been a key player in Marvel Universe’s Marvel Universe ever since. He has been an enemy and an ally to The Fantastic Four and Black Panther, The X-Men, and Doctor Doom. Universal Pictures owned the film rights to the character, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerers’ Stone’s Chris Columbus and Terminator: Rise of the Machine was attached to direct. For years, it was unclear if Marvel Studios had the rights to this character or if Universal still owned them. However, if the rumor holds, it seems that Universal has lost the option.
Marvel Studios has made it possible for Namor and Atlantis to be part of the MCU for many years. Iron Man2 shows a S.H.I.E.L.D. Logo on a map above the ocean. Avengers Endgame included a reference to an underwater earthquake. Most recently, Eternals saw the Celestial Tiamut emerge from the Indian Ocean. This would have likely caused significant disruption to Atlantis. Namor’s big-screen debut seems appropriate with The Fantastic Four joining the MCU. The idea of advanced civilizations such as Atlantis or Wakanda fighting is a bold direction for Black Panther. Wakanda Forever could be the next big hero in the MCU.
