This is a service announcement: If you experience a lot of stuttering when playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on your PC, it may be because of the location of chapter 3’s slums or other areas where many characters congregate there is a possible fix. Although it is not the best solution, it reduced framerate drops while running between sidequests.

Click on your profile at the top of the Epic launcher to set Final Fantasy 7 Remake up in DirectX 11 mode. Then, select Settings from the drop-down menu. Scroll down until Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade appears. Click on it to open a list of all the games currently installed. Then tick the box for “Additional Command Line Arguments”. Type “-dx11”, without quotes, in the box below. You can also add “-fullscreen” to make it run in fullscreen, instead of borderless windowed.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake can’t be run in DirectX 11. This is because HDR won’t work. This could lead to “wrong colours and washed-out colours, with severe bands.” SDR is the best option among the few graphics options available.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PC port has been a disappointment. This is not because of inconsistent frame times. Another frustration is the inability to disable dynamic resolution.
