The now 16-year-old mod was huge when we wrote the first article about Mental Omega in 2018. Phil stated at the time that it was a “dramatic expansion” of one of the most iconic RTSs. Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 has a lot to offer, not only because of the absurdly entertaining FMV cutscenes that rule, but also because it is a lot of fun.
The game’s strangely asymmetrical factions, and bizarre balance got even more complicated with the Yuri’s Revenge expansion. However, the creators of Mental Omega truly understand the game. It would have taken 16 years to develop the game. First, rebalancing the game, then rebuilding it with an entirely new faction, and finally, charting their own story to the game’s future through 133 missions spread across the Allies and Soviets, the Yuri group, and the new Foehn.

It also has new features, such as cooperative campaign missions that can be done alongside the regular campaign. The game engine has been updated to add many new effects. Anti-gravity weapons allow tanks to fly through the air or flip over.

Each major faction has three subfactions, which gives each flavour a whole new set of gameplay options. The plodding soviets’ normal army is not for you. The South American faction uses hit-and-run tactics. Thanks to the wizards of cncnet, you can play multiplayer with an active community.
